Feng Shui is all about balancing energy
•The Yin (feminine, negative energy) and
•The Yang (positive, masculine energy)
Pets, with their unconditional love and buzzing activity, represent a lot of positive energy. Pets are synonymous with both activity as well as love. Pets give and receive love unconditionally and this makes them natural attractors of good Feng Shui.
Their behavior (provided they are kept happy and healthy) is full of buoyant energy and exuberance that keeps the space around them charged and energized.
Pets are deeply affected by the energy in your home and make their own valuable contribution as well. Pets continue to be active even when you’ve gone to work and even when your house is empty. They keep your home happy and give it a ‘lived in’ feel even in your absence. According to Feng Shui, this activity leads to the addition of ‘Yang Energy’ and attracts good Feng Shui into your home.
But there’s a catch here Simply having pets in your home cannot guarantee good Feng Shui on its own. In order to attract the right kind of Feng Shui, you need to ensure that pets are well-caredfor and healthy.
As a matter of fact, poorly managed and uncaredfor pets are more likely to bring negative energy into the house. Consequently, you will not only repel good luck but attract depression into the atmosphere in your home and life. This may also result in the build-up of negative karmaby neglecting the welfare of a living creature that depends on you for its survival.
Animals, birds and fish are all perfectly aligned for Feng Shui on their own. However, when you bring them into your home and take responsibility for themit becomes very important that you care for them appropriately.
The fundamental rules of Feng Shui revolve around being able to extend your love and affection to other living things. Understanding Feng Shui helps you do this, and get and give the most by doing so!
Your purpose for getting a pet should not be only about attracting good luck, however. In fact, Buddhist teachings suggest that the primary motivation behind getting a pet should be to nurture an animal and help it through its Karma as a lesser being.
The principles of Feng Shui say that every creature is entitled to love and care, and this is how pets and karma are strongly linked. Raising a pet requires time and attention and you should think about getting one only if you can make the appropriate commitment.
Nurturing pets at home not only makes you a more giving, caring and considerate person, but can also have deep, positive effects in other areas of your life. The intrinsic link between pets and the balance of energies impacts several other areas such as
•Health
•Finance and
•Happiness
Research indicates that animals also make excellent companions in nursing homes as the elderly in them report feeling happier and healthier with pets around them.
In fact, have you ever noticed that pets seldom wander over to their nesting spot and simply plop themselves down to sleep like people do? They normally spend time sniffing around the space, going around it a bit and only then settle themselves in for sleeping.
They do this because animals tend to be much more sensitive to natural energy flows and are excellent barometers of Chi.
Even if you previously didn’t know much about Feng Shui, if you are looking after your pet lovingly and diligently you are already working towards aligning positive energies. Keeping your pets happy, clean, and healthy is already good Feng Shui.
Unfortunately, pets are often a low priority for many people and end up getting sidelined to work, money, and the hectic struggle to make ends meet in today’s busy world. Fortunately many who have pets are in fact aware that they are deeply connected physically, mentally as well as spiritually to their pets.

Feng Shui for Dogs is simply amazing!I recently purchased the series of Feng Shui books for my mother and mother-in-law. I also bought this particular book in the series for my sister who is an avid dog lover and pet enthusiast. I myself am a huge advocate of living in a Feng Shui lifestyle of peace and harmony. All three loved the books in this series that I believe to be a Must Buy for everyone.
Pets are the main focus of this book. For those of you that are not up to date with Eastern philosophies or the ancient Chinese sciences that focus on fire, earth, water, metal and wood that are the foundations / elements that help you increase your positive energy.
As such these elements create the backdrop for improving your overall health while also arming you with the tools needed to increase the quality of life for your pet. I simply loved this book. Everything from what to feed dogs, to the proper use of aromas is discussed.
